Training
Programs



Latin America Bioimaging will provide financial support for training and career development activities. Three programs are offered to improve bioimaging capacities in Latin America, maximizing the education and training resources available in the region and opening access to research infrastructure.

The call for applications is aimed at individuals registered at LABI and resident in Latin America. It will be held on a regular basis of two calls per year during the period 2023-2025.

This program is possible thanks to funding from The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

Program 1

Travel grants to attend Bioimaging courses Aimed at users and researchers.
AIM

To promote access to bioimaging training for users and researchers residing in Latin America.

Description

LABI will support to cover the costs for attending a specialized course in any Bioimaging topic.

As a way of promoting cooperation and fostering a regional community building, priority will be given to international courses to be held within Latin America. Local-national courses may also be considered.

All applications must justify the choice of the course selected, the specific need for training, funding and the expected impact on the applicant’s individual career and local community.



Program 2

Travel grants to attend Bioimaging courses Aimed at staff of bioimaging service units.
AIM

To promote access to bioimaging training for imaging facility staff in Latin America.

Description

LABI will contribute to cover the necessary costs for attending a specialized course in any Bioimaging topic, specifically including those focused on improving the management and performance of imaging facilities

As a way of promoting cooperation and fostering a regional community building, priority will be given to international courses to be held within Latin America. Local-national courses may also be considered.

All applications must justify the choice of the course selected, the specific need for training, funding and the expected impact on the applicant’s individual career and local community.



Program 3

Travel grants for professional development and connection of Imaging Facilities in Latin America. Aimed at staff of bioimaging service units.
AIM

To promote the professional development of Imaging Facilities staff through a personalized work experience in another imaging facility.

Encourage networking and promote potential collaborations between Latin American Imaging Facilities.

Description

LABI will contribute to cover the expenses to visit or received a visit on an imaging facility. This experience will allow program participants to learn or teach new aspects related to the facility management and use, such as: user access, quality management, software tools, image data storage and analysis, facility organization, application of new technologies, among others.

As a way of promoting cooperation and fostering regional community building through open access to research infrastructure, priority will be given to international exchanges to be held within Latin America. Local-national exchanges may also be considered.

All applications must justify the choice of the imaging facility selected, the specific need for training, funding, the expected impact on individual training, on the applicant’s imaging facility and on the applicant’s local community.
